WXD Backup Lite

Reliable WordPress backup, restore, and migration workflows for agencies, freelancers, and serious site owners.

Most WordPress backup tools either feel too fragile when you actually need them, or too bloated with upsells, clutter, and unnecessary complexity. WXD Backup Lite is built with a narrower goal: reliable backups, safer restores, and cleaner migrations for real-world WordPress sites. It supports full-site and selective backups, scheduled runs, restore points before recovery, migration flows with URL rewriting, and operational safeguards that reduce risk when something breaks. The focus is not on more features for the sake of it — it is on recovery confidence, predictable workflows, and fewer unpleasant surprises. Because WooCommerce runs on WordPress, full-site backups naturally include WooCommerce orders, products, customers, and store configuration — no special handling required. A future Pro tier will add store-specific capabilities: pre-sale and pre-event backup scheduling, WooCommerce data visibility in backup summaries, and granular restore flows for order and product data.

Problem

What it solves

Many WordPress sites rely on backups that have never been tested, restore flows that fail at the worst moment, or migration methods that depend on manual edits and fragile assumptions. Teams often discover too late that the backup is incomplete, the restore is unreliable, or the migrated site still carries broken URLs, duplicated config constants, or plugin conflicts. The real problem is not just backup creation — it is whether recovery actually works when the site is under pressure.

Solution

What it does

WXD Backup Lite is designed around the full recovery workflow, not just archive creation. It can create full-site or selective backups, schedule recurring jobs, enforce retention rules, lock important backups from deletion, guide restores through a structured flow, create a restore point before recovery, and handle migration tasks like URL rewriting and wp-config.php normalization. WooCommerce stores are naturally covered — since WooCommerce stores all data in the WordPress database and filesystem, full-site backups capture orders, products, and customer data without additional configuration. The product is built to reduce operational risk and make backup, restore, and migration tasks behave like controlled workflows instead of emergency improvisation.

How it works

From install to first backup in three steps.

  1. 1

    Install and activate

Upload the plugin .zip from your WordPress admin or install from a packaged build. No external account, no API key, no signup flow.

  2. 2

    Pick a backup scope

Run a one-click full-site backup or choose a selective scope — database only, uploads only, or any combination of plugins, themes, and core files.

  3. 3

    Schedule and forget

Set a daily, weekly, or manual cadence, configure retention, and lock important backups so automatic cleanup never deletes them.

FAQ

Common questions before you install.

Does it work with WooCommerce?

Yes. Full-site backups capture WooCommerce orders, products, customers, and store configuration automatically, with no separate plugin or setup needed.

Where are backups stored?

Locally on your server by default, in a protected directory inside wp-content. Remote storage destinations are planned for the Pro tier.

Can I migrate to a new host with this?

Yes. Backup Lite includes a migration workflow with URL rewriting and wp-config normalization, so the imported site comes up clean on the new host.

What happens if a restore fails halfway?

Every restore creates an automatic restore-point first, and concurrent restores are blocked. If something fails, you can roll back to the pre-restore state immediately.
